Plant Spirit Yoga
As an herbalist and plant-lover, I am honored to offer "Plant Spirit Yoga," a practice inspired in me by the plants in 2005. These journeys are like the regular yoga asana classes that I teach, but the theme is a particular plant, such as Rose, White Pine, Nettle, Elderberry, or Birch. We use breath, meditation, and asana to invoke and then embody the spiritual essence of the plant. In this way we welcome in the healing energies of the plant, as well as become mediums for any teachings it may have to share. From the perspective of Tantric philosophy everything is connected, woven together in an intricate web of Consciousness. As part of that great web, we can tap into different strands of Awareness, such as those of the plants, communicating from a place more ancient than words, finding healing, connection, and wisdom.
In July 2012 Ann Armbrecht, creator of the film "Numen: The Healing Powers of Plants," interviewed me about Plant Spirit Yoga. Here's a link to the interview.
I have taught Plant Spirit Yoga at Rosemary Gladstar's Sage Mountain Herb School in Vermont, The Women's Herbal Conference in NH, the International Herbal Symposium in MA, The Village Building Convergence in VT, and the ::WEAVE:: Gathering at Earthdance in MA. I have also offered it at various yoga studios and retreat centers. My work with Plant Spirit Yoga has been featured in the magazine "Yoga International." If you would like me to bring this practice to an event or studio near you, please contact me.
