Slow, yet strengthening, this class is for seniors, people who are new to yoga, or people who are working with injuries or other limitations. Poses are done sitting on the floor, lying down, and standing with an emphasis on gentle stretching, subtle strengthening, and calming the mind though breathing and meditation. Modifications and props will be offered to help each student be comfortable and safe. The class will illuminate various principles of Tantric yogic philosophy as they relate to every-day life. Poetry, myth, and a reverence for nature are at the heart of this class.
In this supportive class, students learn and build upon basic yoga poses while learning about yogic mythology and Tantric philosophy. Emphasis is on learning alignment principles, breathing techniques, and moving mindfully through moderately-paced vinyasas (posture flows). Modifications and props are offered as needed. Students who are able to safely hold both down-dog and plank pose and who are able to step into a forward lunge from down-dog will be most comfortable in this class. Though this class is designed for people with prior yoga experience, beginners who have some background in a related disciple such as dance or martial arts will be most likely comfortable joining this class. Connect with your Self and with Nature in this inspiring and uplifting class.
Challenging and empowering, Level 2 classes are for students who are very comfortable in a Level 1 class and want to deepen and expand their practice. Students who can push up into full wheel on their own or kick up into handstand on the wall will be most comfortable in this class. We will reaffirm basic poses and alignment principles while also adventuring into more advanced poses and variations. As we move and breathe, we will deepen our understanding of Tantric Yoga through myth, philosophy, and every-day wisdom. Deepen your connection to the natural world and your Self in this inspiring and potent practice.
